Looked over at my tank and saw one of my lps corals flopping around. It’s barely hanging onto the base; by a thread. It is fully extended and looks super happy. I moved it off the rock it was on and put it in the sand, in a lower flow area of the tank so it’s not flopping around as much. I also don’t know the name of this coral, what type of lps it is (I know doesn’t help much).

I looked this up to see if anyone else has had this issue, but could only find posts on torches doing this.

I am not sure what’s going on, and I am looking to the community for help.

It detached from the rock or from the base?
Looks like an acan

it has detached from the coral base, as in its skeleton. It is hanging on with one of the 'mouths'.

Is there any to prevent this, or correct it?

Back in the day there was, what probably is a old wives tale /dismissed by now? is that depleted strontium levels were theorized to be a contributing cause of polyp bailout, I'm not sure if there is truth to it

sorry for my mumbling if it's been dispelled

lol

Thanks for the input guys, but I think I found my sneaky culprit.....

My tomini tang. Just saw it picking at the head of the coral that’s still hanging on. I am thinking it may have caused this.
I am not sure what to do about that, cuz I don’t have another tank that’s ready for corals.

I guess we will see how it goes...
