Not sure what to do?

I have been looking at a lot other setup's and I am intrigued with the idea of doing some thing different. I currently have a wet dry filter that is barley big enough to hold my pump and skimmer. It is very small and does not hold a lot of water. So what should I do I was thinking of taking my fifty gallon that I have in the basement and running it as my sump in the basement. I have no clue what I am doing so I plan on taking this slow. I know with head pressure and what not I would need a big pump. My current tank is not drilled, I have an overflow box currently. I was also wondering if I can put a bigger sump or wet dry under my tank, I know I have two feet of room left but would be worried about putting something larger underneath in the fact that it might not fit. I am thinking basement and plumbing is way to go, but I don't have a clue on would even start this project? Or how to approach it? Any thoughts?

Basement would be sweet cause than you can do all your fun water stuff down there but you are correct with pump difficulty. Also I would make getting your tank drilled a priority! Overflow boxes are scary. How big is the tank and stand?

I have a seventy five gallon, standard four foot. Geez I guess I have been lucky ran tank for about five years straight with out an issue with overflow

They work just scarey. Lol. The siphon is the scarey part. Or maybe it's just me watching the water go over the tank in a tube.

You will be happy to get rid of the wet dry no matter what you decide. So many cool things you can do in a nice big sump.

Basement sump = monster return pump. Not worth it on a tiny tank like that IMO.

If you really wanna do something more interesting, go sumpless/all-in-one and lose all the extra complexity/plumbing.

I'd be nervous with an overflow too but have a buddy who's had a reef for 25 years using one and has never had an issue
