Thats a beauty!

Now is it one or ten drops of Nuocmam every day? Cos I been dosing it every day one drop, and I can't get colours like this. :D. I got a whole bottle in da fridge, but it ain't the 3 crab brand...maybe that is why?

You have an amazing chalice collection. I guess they are hardier than sps, so maybe I will start collecting too.

Can you please post photos of your five nicest sps please? Many thanks. :)

How's the vinegar dosing going?

Any reason why you aren't doing vodka? I am considering starting vodka dosing and was wondering if you had any advice.

It's more the glug glug method.

Most definitely in a class all by itself.

It's going well. During the switch from the biopellets my PO4 got outa hand and browned out some sticks but it's been back under control again. I used to dose vodka and it worked well for me. Just wanted to try the vinegar and since you have to dose 8X as much compared to vodka it seems to leave a lot more room for error.

Only thing I can recommend with any organic carbon dosing is do your homework and ask lots of questions. For some reason it seems like with the vinegar my softies and lps are doing well despite having lower nutrients. Seemed like when I was dosing vodka my zoas and lps didn't like it.

Great pics. ;)

Interesting. So for someone starting carbon dosing for the first time, would you recommend vodka or vinegar?

What bacteria do you use? MB7?

I had a question about what you said here:

Man there was so many reasons. I was tired of sps looking so pale. The pics you posted are the same piece. Lineaged Garf Purple Bonsai. Place that thing in a lower nutrient tank and it'd turn almost solid purple. My chalices would grow so painfully slow or the ones that didn't eat well would eventually starve to death and die. I've even had sps colonies that I've had for years just get more and more pale and eventually die from what I belive is starvation despite my efforts to feed the tank. I went on a family trip for a couple days thinking the tank would be fine without me. Came home to even more pale sticks. I ran the pellets for 2 years+ but before that I was vodka dosing. When I started the pellets it was so that I wouldn't have to dose everyday. Thinking it's all in the pellet reactor and I don't have to do anything which meant less work. In the end I was dosing all kinds of stuff and feeding like crazy to keep colors on my sps. I tried less pellets. I tried decreasing the flow to a slight tumble where the pellets hardly moved. I figured with the vinegar I could at least control how much carbon I was dosing.

How would putting the coral in an even lower nutrient system make it color up more? (Wouldn't it be starved more?)

Sorry for all the questions. I am thinking of doing carbon dosing so I can feed more and add some zeo products to get more color out of my sticks. And I am thinking twice now since your sticks were getting pale even though you were feeding a ton.

Sps just look better under lower nutrients but I'm not a fan of the ultra pale colors. I switch between MB7 and Zeobak. Every once in awhile I use Special Blend. That stuff is stanky! I'd try the vinegar before I tried the vodka. It really seems that much harder to screw up. I went from vodka to bio pellets to vinegar. With the biopellets I felt little control. I tried using less pellets, more pellets, more flow, less flow through the reactor, and after 2 years I gave up. At least with hand dosing carbon when you feel your colors are too pale you can just cut back or if your nutrients are still high you can dose more. Hth.

What is this blue rim beauty?

Coral Diva's Blue Magic. This thing morphs back and forth displaying different shades of color. I could move it over 1-2 inches on my sand bed and she changes too. It's awesome. She loves light too. I get the feeling that if I had room on my rocks somewhere up higher she would really shine.

Who did you purchase this frag from?
Will from AquaSD hooked that baby up for me. They been getting some crazy stuff. Sometimes their updates are overwhelming.
