Octo LUX T90

All of the included drain plumbing (main and emergency) for the Reef Octo T90 tank is metric size 32mm. Not sure of the T60.

I bought metric size but you could also convert metric to standard if you wish.

For the main drain I use:
(2) 90 degree elbow
(1) union
For the emergency drain I use:
(1) coupling
(2) 90 degree elbow
(1) union
In total I use approximately 5’ of pipes

Let me know if you have any other questions.
Yeah where did you purchase your metric piping and stuff?

I been sending ATI test every 3 months the latest one was mailed on Feb 28 and received this week with the following results:

ATIHome test kits
Alk 7.297.6
Ca 418.4420
Mg 13281350
NO3 3.992.9
PO4 .04.04

Had a number of recommendations, below the highlights:
  1. Critically High Potassium 512.2/434.7
  2. Critically High Silicon 712.9/106.5
  3. Above Normal Salinity 37.24/35
  4. Critically Low Zinc 0/2.13
Have a new Cresent (C. Lunatus) wrasse in observation, the plan is to replace it with the Redfin (C. Rubiprinnis) wrasse.

Been thinking about getting one of the Jebao DMP pumps for the bottom right side. That area is getting detritus accumulation.

What is the yellow coral to the right of the Derasa?

Why was the potassium critically high?

WWC Stellaria Chalice been growing pretty fast but aggressive. Almost took out the plate coral.

The potassium might be that is on both the ESV 2 parts and I was also using the Tropic Marine A+ and K+. Need to read more on it but that’s what I believe cause the raise.

It's a great color, yellow!!

Parameters this weekend:
Alk 7.8
Ca 425
Mg 1365
NO3 .8
PO4 .09

Waiting on a bottle to start preparing and dosing the Ammonium Bicarbonate. Doing little adjustments to major elements to get them more dial in as tank matures, consumption increases but still testing every week the 5 major elements.

Can't wait for all frags to encrust the tile and into the rockwork, urchin keep knocking things out and it's getting annoying, lol.

I been getting a ton of micro bubble in the display from the skimmer. Think I need to add a sponge or something on the last sump compartment before the return pump.

Also need to setup the DOS system currently using the 1 Ecotech Versa for Alk but dosing Ca manual twice a day. I have an extra Versa and container that used to dose Ca on the nano but was lazy and never moved it over.

It's a great color, yellow!!

It's indeed, here is a closeup.

Next week I will be picking up a Yellow Banded Possum Wrasse (Wetmorella nigropinnata) from a member here who is breaking their tank. Excited, I had one of these in the past and liked watching the interaction between it and the Pink-Streaked Wrasse (Pseudocheilinops ataenia)

Started dosing Ammonium Bicarbonate
Day 1 dosed 10ml, Nitrates went from 1.6 to 3.2 will dose the same amount today and measure tomorrow.
IMG_5084.JPEG

Plan to turn the UV back on, getting dino and Cyano on the left side of the tank. I’m pretty confident the underlying issue are the nutrient but the UV should help keep them in check while I address the P04/N03. Also still dealing with the micro bubbles, need to adjust the skimmer.

I did setup the second Versa pump for the Ca dosing 20ml of ESV Part 2. For Part 1 (Alk) currently dosing 34ml but might need to reduce the dose (maybe to 30ml), it has slowly been getting higher.

Also picked up the Possum wrasse yesterday. It’s currently in my nano with the Cresent wrasse. Would like to get the Redfin out in the next few weeks in order to transfer these two over.

Parameters today
Alk 7.8
Ca 430
Mg 1350
Nitrates 6.5

Here is a look at how the ammonium bicarbonate dosing has been helping with the nitrates. I will likely dose for a day or 2 more and then reduce the dose to keep Nitrates around 5-10

Day 0 Nitrates at 1.6
Day 1 Nitrates at 3.2
Day 2 Nitrates at 3.6
Day 3 Nitrates at 5
Day 4 Not measured
Day 5 Nitrates 5.9
Day 6 Not measured
Day 7 Nitrates at 6.5

Counted 6 to 7 frags that the urchin had bulldozed over and I need to glue back.

Still struggling with nutrients. The tank has a combination of GHA, Cyano, Diatoms and/or Dinoflagellate. Not looking that great.

Plan to go to Reefapaloza tomorrow.

Wishing the tank was bigger to get a tang for its utilitarian use.

Cyano is taking over that left side. The Nutrients imbalance is taking its toll. This will be my focus

Stopped by Reefapaloza last weekend and had a good time there. Picked a few things

Strawberry Shortcake

Think it might be time to restock the clean up crew. Also need to do maintenance on the pumps.

Dealing with Cyanobacteria, likely due to the nutrient imbalance and organics. I noticed a few spots where detritus has been accumulating. Started dosing Microbacter clean and looking to add an MP40 for supplemental flow in the next month or so.

Parameters this week
Alk 8.6
Ca 440
Mg 1290 slowly bringing up to 1350.
N03 5.7 (15ml of H4HCO3 twice a day)

Reduce 2ml of ESV Part 1 and Part 2, dosing 40ml per day broken down into 3 doses. Dosing Ammonium and Phosphate. I did lose the Crocea clam, woke up one morning to find all its flesh gone. The shell is still around, thinking I might use it with an encrusting coral.

IMG_5297a.JPG

Got a Vectra S2 and with hurricane season fast approaching I also picked up a Delta2 1024Wh battery.

Plans

Water change and syphon the sandbed.
Glue down about 4 frags
Setup new return pump

Added an MP40 to the right side, currently at 10% on gyre mode. This has help tremendously with the Cyano. Still have a good amount but a good sand vacuum and the higher nutrient should help.

Plan to do small tweaks to the doser. Thinking about lowering Ca but increasing Alk just slightly. Feel like I’m getting a handle on the nutrients again. Let’s see if they stabilize so things can start growing again. Some corals seem to have slowed their growth rate and I attribute it to the nutrient fluctuations.

Bump the Alk and reduce the Ca doser. Mixing some water at 1.024 to bring down salinity.

Monitoring the Dersa clam, as the mantle is not extended in some areas and don’t see the normal growth lines. It does respond to light. Plan to get some phytoplankton to feed.

The Radiant wrasse has been in the nano for 45 days. It has put on some weight and eats about anything that hits the water.

Unfortunately, the Dersea clam didn’t make it through the year. Still not sure what really happened. Looking at some data the Ca was creeping around May 30 letting me to believe that it was not consuming Calcium. Also, the white line associated with new growth wasn't present around this time. I did introduce a Crocea clam at the beginning of May that didn't make it. Now I start to wonder if the Crocea had some disease that took out both out.

Order the ICP test, plan to send it out Friday.

Now have 10 fishes including the Tomini so starting to think more seriously of the upgrade. The issue is width, I can’t fit a standard 24”.

Here are a few options I seen so far:

Tideline has 48 or 60*20*21
Nyos has a 49*20*20
Glass Cage has a 48 or 60 *22*16 on BRS
Eshopp has 48 or 60 *22*22

Back from some needed vacations…
