odd critter

have had my tank going for 2yrs. i hav all of a sudden saw what looks like a 3 legged blachish & white stripped looking starfish. About 1&1/2 diameter around legs spread with a body the size of a popcorn b4 u pop it. any clues if they are bad or what they are would help. havent seen them sence either. Thanx
