Oh my, this one is pretty special

I've had this guy for about 6.5 yrs, started as single polyp Acan Maxima from @CherryCorals . Just moved into my new tank from my 75 where it's been on the bottom. This is the first time I've had it mounted somewhat horizontal so I can shoot the entire colony. Some of these are a little blurry where I was taking from the side (glass on the new tank is THICK) Whew!!!

Took this one to give some context how it sits on the rockwork.

Beautiful pics! Can you tell me more about your camera set up? I have a Nikon D3500 and want to try and get pictures halfway as nice as yours.

Pretty sure that’s a Micromussa pacifica. Everything I’ve read about them says that A. maxima only comes from a few places in the Middle East where corals have never been collected for aquaria. There’s a reefbuilders article about how most of the corals that are sold as A. maxima are really M. pacifica. I could be wrong, but it might be worth looking into.

I use a Canon T6i with a 100mm macro lens. I use lightroom for post processing to balance color. You can click on any of the pics and it will take you to the Flikr hosting which has all the camera settings etc for each shot.

It's growth form is not really like a scolly, which I think is what the pacifica is now being used to describe. It throws new baby polyps out every once in a while.
