OK so what is stopping you installing an Algae Turf Scrubber on your system?

Chaetos always been finicky for me. I found the horticulture led needs to be a certain distance and not too bright. But if this thing breaks i think ill try the tunze. Im not worried now the ats has dropped my nutrients to almost nothing now!
Be careful to avoid all 0s with nitrate and phosphate. Your scrubber will get you there. Harvest and feed your tank. Dose if necessary. Algea filtration is far superior to other systems.

Hi Paul, what type of light do you use on your scrubber? Thanks
I just use a reef flood light that screws into a regular socket. It looks like a flood light bulb
And do you just use standard crochet mesh for the screen?
Yes.

Sorry am taking about open hanging screen ATSs not the tray type of which I have no experience. They do seem to take up.a fair bit of space a d unlike a waterfall type are one sided not 2 suggesting they need to be twice the size of a waterfall type lit from both sides. However, they are simpler.

Here's the overflow box, prefilter and scrubber tray I just water tested. Going on a homemade 110. Pretty simple. I've got less than 100 buck in it.

I run mine 16 hours on. When your nutrients get to where you want them start reducing hours until your nutrients stay where you want them. Or just feed more.

I recently sold my Turbo's because I downgraded the tank i had it on to a 50 cube and it couldn't fit in the new sump. I already had a bucket fuge with chaeto on my 120 that's working well. I'm thinking about doing a small diy one to see if it works. Not looking to spend much. From my experience it's not like a refugium which has to be large to be effective. I figure even a small one should work.

I run them opposite of my tank lights but they stay on about 14 hours. I clean it when it's full, maybe every two weeks. It comes right off and I put it in the sink

Morning Paul, when you say "you put it in the tank" do you mean you feed the algae directly into the tank for your fish to eat?
