lol so i have my red sea 350 and it’s so nice but i can’t for the life of me with the streaks all over the glass on the outside of the tank. i’ve tried multiple different glass cleaners and different methods of wiping and different things such as microfiber, paper towel, suede rag. the streaks are driving me insane. what is the best products to clean the glass?

I find a 1:1 ratio of white vinegar to RO water works, one microfiber cloth to wipe it down, then another dry microfiber cloth to get any remaining wetness off the glass.

Please post a couple of pics of the streaks but Vinegar & Distilled water or with tank empty, muriatic acid and even running alcohol will work along with white pad scrubber pad. First you want to determine if streaks are from calcium or other minerals. A razor blade scraper is effective as long as glass is kept wet.

the streaks are on the outside of the tank. you know, when you clean anything glass sometimes it'll get streaky. that's what I'm dealing with.

Spray with vinegar water solution and use a lint-free rag or cloth diaper.

The concern is if the traditional techniques aren't working then it's possible that the rag you're using needs to be replaced or that a couple more cleanings are warranted.

When I get salt water on the outside, it usually takes a few attempts before it comes back clean. I personally like to use the blue disposable paper towels to get the glass sorta clean then switch over to the micro fiber cloth. That way the micro fiber cloth will last a bit longer before I have to discard it.

Oh and I use windex.

I have to go over mine 2-3x, always dry. So each pass, new microfiber.

Someone also mentioned hydrogen peroxide for cleaning, which I tried and worked well.

You definitely can use windex too. However don't spray it directly onto the glass, because you might accidently over spray and get some into the tank. Spray it onto a paper towel, then wipe. I however find sometimes doing this, it just wets the salt making it look dry, but then the water evaporated from the salt leaving the same white streaks. The vinegar solution has worked best for me. You could also do a mix of vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol. That may work really well, I probably experiment with that when I have time to.

I have sprayed the glass for many years with no issues. Just dint over do it.

I have great results using a spray bottle of RO water and a squeegee, the trick is to use lots of RO and squeegee straight across the tank, overlapping each swipe and wiping the squeegee with a clean cloth after each swipe. If it's not perfect do it one more time. Works great and is very fast!

I find the sleeve of my flannel shirt polishes away the smudge left after wiping saltwater off the glass with a towel. This strategy only works in the cold weather, though. The tail of my Hawaiian shirt have the same polishing qualities.
