I'm setting up a 40B, and though I'm waiting on a living situation where I can have it running, I'm currently having fun buying things and reading up on how it's done these days.
I was into the saltwater hobby a long time ago when I was in high school during the mid 80s. When everyone ran undergravel filters. I even worked at a LFS. It wasn't that great, though. The owners smoked cigarettes in the same room with the tanks and exotic birds.
