Old School SPS Reef v5.0

Tank settling in nicely. Added a color matched wire chase on the left to hide the cables from the lights and Vortechs.

I can’t figure out why photos are getting compressed so much when I upload.

Ben what do you have for algae eaters? I will say the tank is so clean looking.

3 Tangs, 5-6 Blackfoot trochus, and 1 monster marble shelled unknown snail the size of a plum. He’s like 5+ years old!

I have been keeping up on cleaning all 3 panes every 2-3 days as the coralline will get out of hand VERY quickly. That’s part of why it looks so clean. Silly me setting up an acrylic tank knowing how much faster coralline takes to plastics ‍♂️

That's great. Either I'm blind or the tangs hate the camera. You're coralline growth on the rocks looks really nice.

Thanks Tim. It was pretty cool when I moved all the rocks over every inch of every rock was solid purple.

I think all the fish were hiding in the last pic because I just cleaned the glass…

Incredible reef you have! You definitely have the magic touch on growing acropora. Please keep updating lol
Thanks!

Switched bulbs so both sunrise/sunset bulbs are Coral Plus for a more natural look, and so my living room doesn’t have such an off putting blue glow in the evenings.

Ordered a GHL Lightbar 3 to try out for my supplemental light fill. Hoping something with similar spectrum to my Coral Plus Blue Plus combo will provide a more uniform look to the tank. I like my Quanta but it just makes the room glow too blue, and makes a very obvious blue section of the tank.Turning out to be quite the light bar Goldilocks here haha.

Merry Christmas all!

Is JF Jolt a blue light queen? Seems to be. After I switched over to the 2x coral plus bulbs next to the quanta to even out the light color he bleached out and didn’t really bounce back so I moved him down.

My clam broke his hinge a couple months ago, probably due to his size and my shallow sand bed. I bought this recommended newer book on clams and their care, but unfortunately it mostly cites old info and doesn’t give anything specific on individual species care. I only learned from ORA that large Derasa and Squamosa need deeper sand.

Anywho, I glued a frag plug on each shell half as posts to string a rubber band holding him together so he can heal. It’s been 2 months and he’s still hanging on.

That's a solid wall of coralline you're growing my friend. Tank looks great!
Thanks Tim!

Have a newborn at home so I’m on just maintain mode right now but the tank is settling in nicely.

Got a pic of Goliath this am when the lights came on. He’s older than both my kids and the size of my fist haha
