One last pvc question

Okay, I have one last PVC question for you all, then I'll be done for good.

Is it okay to use the PVC primer/glue inside the house? I have the Oatey's Purple Primer and the Regular Clear Cement. I have been assembling everything outside, letting them cure, then bringing them in a few days later.

On the plumbing from the return to the overflow, I can't think of a way to build the whole thing outdoors. I think any way I go I'm going to be stuck with making one connection indoors, unless there is something I'm overlooking.

I know it says to use in a well ventilated area, but I'm not sure if inside a house counts as well ventilated or not.

Alternatively, when picking up various different pvc fittings for my plumbing, I have noticed those no glue joints. Anyone have any experience with these? Are they any good? I could glue all the rest of the pipe outdoors and make my one final connection indoors using the no glue connection.

Otherwise is it a health concern to prime/cement the last joint inside my house?

Yes, it's OK. If you have any concerns, just leave a window open for a little while, but it's definitely not necessary.

As long as you have a fan blowing in the room and crack a window, you should be fine.

The no glue fittings usually have metal in them which may or may not come in contact with water is typically a bad idea.

If you are concerned about the smell/fumes indoors you could fit everything up inside then glue outside and incorporate a union as the connection point.

That's a little more reassuring. I had thought about the union idea, but I worry that the union wouldn't fit through the hole for the bulkhead. Am I wrong about this?

What is it about the primer/cement that they recommend using it in a well ventilated area?

If you mean the hole in the tank or overflow, then it most definitely won't fit through.

As far as the warning goes its the same with a lot of products. They put a warning on it for safety purposes. If they didn't have it then someone would sue them saying they passed out and hit their head.

Yes, I was speaking about the hole drilled in the glass. I didn't think a union would fit through there, so unless I'm overlooking a possibility I would still have to glue one joint.

I don't really worry about the smell so much. It's more of any negative affect on my dogs or family. As long as it won't be harmful to anyone I'll just quit worrying about it.
