I have a 40 breeder with a 20 gallon sump. I would like to get one more fish, but I’m not sure if I should. I’m currently dosing nitrates and I’m thinking another fish producing waste will help alleviate some of that. My current stock:

5 Blue-Green Chromis
2 clowns
1 starry blenny
1 six line wrasse

I was thinking of getting an Orchid Dottyback or a Chalk Basslet.

Anyone have any thoughts or opinions? I really want a Midas Blenny, but I know my Starry won’t be having any of it.

You are pushing it on stock to begin with. Personally, I wouldn't add another fish to your tank.

I would choose and orchid dottyback over a chaulk basslet. I have had both and the orchid is probably my all time favorite fish and I think it would hold it's own against the sixline better than the chaulk basslet.

I don't see an issue adding another fish but I stock my tanks heavily and feed heavily to support that but I do see why some responses are against adding another fish.
