Hello all,

my clownfish have been showing prespawning behaviour for quite a few weeks now however still no eggs! They keep cleaning one specific spot and the Male is doing dry runs over that spot.

They are both 3 years old and I bought them as a breeding pair.

is this normal for prespawning behaviour to last this long and when can I expect eggs?

How long have you had them? It can take awhile for a breeding pair to start laying again after the stress of being moved to a new system.

mine prefer hard flat surfaces with low flow and shaded. maybe its cleaning that one spot but it's never good enough? or maybe they laid it elsewhere close by - check rocks/caves/shaded walls around that spot maybe.
