Orange plate not looking so hot!

I know these guys can be finicky, but everything else is doing great. He was sitting next to a Heliofungia that is doing wonderfully. Today I moved him to a more shaded spot.

For the last week or so, he hasn’t been putting out his tentacles like normal. He would still eat the occasional fish pellet that fell on him. Today I noticed some tissue recession on him, and think that it might be the end, but I hope not.

Parameters are attached as well as his pics. My N is always 0ppm, I’m dosing Amino-Organic for amino acids and nitrogen, and have been for a while. Like I said everything else is great except for this plate.

Any tips to try and help it?

Well... your nutrients are 0 so if it's not catching enough food it will starve. Your phosphates are low too. So you might think about increasing feeding in addition to the amino dosing. You could try target feeding a few times a week at night. If it won't respond to eating directly, it might help to put the amino you are adding to the tank in a little water and give it a 15min soak. Then after you put it coral back you can pour the container contents into the tank.

No nitrates is not good.

I had one come back from looking like this, all hope is definitely not lost.

Why not move it back to the place it was happy?

I ordered some food grade sodium nitrate that should be here tomorrow. I have ammonium bicarbonate from when I used to dose that, but it make the LPS all brownish, so I really don't want to go that route again. I'm sure it's getting plenty to eat, I dose Phos-Feed every night, and it's mouth is always open after that is dosed.

I'll get the N up to 5ish ppm and see if it responds positivity. I just did give it some Reef Energy AB+ directly with the pumps off, and it sucked it up like normal. I really want it to pull through so hopefully it just needs some nitrates!

ime plate corals are all really finicky most of them need really high light and most are really susceptible to Calc and Magnesium swing especially drops.

As other's have said. Likely starving. As long as your parameters are stable. You shouldn't see tissue recession. Either its starving or swings in parameters. Until your nitrates get up. I'd feed it smaller foods like mysis/phyto/zooplankton.
