I have had this orange shoulder for many years (before he even had any orange).... About half a year or so ago he turned light gray in color and darker in back like an adult...

Recently, his tail fin looks a little messed up and doesn't seem to be healing (see picture). Additionally he turned yellow again?!?

Is this common, or is there something wrong with him?

He still eats everything I put in the tank and acts normal.

That's the thing... I never see any fighting. He is the only tang because he gets a little aggressive when I add new fish...

Yeah, worth a shot. I don't know what could even bully him... The clown is mean but only when you mess around the nem... Other than that, its a goby, some smaller wrasses, coral beauty, foxface, cardinals, and lyretails.... all fish I have had in the tank for a while. The orange shoulder is by far the largest thing in there... and the aggressor with new fish.
