What's the minimum tank size you people would recommend for an orange spotted goby? Now in a 45 gallon but causing more problems than worth.
I was thinking of starting a smaller tank just for him/her .

There are a couple of fish commonly called orange spotted goby. One is a sand sifter, also known as the diamond goby, these are best suited for tanks 75g or larger. The other is a type of watchman, theis is fine for a 10g. Based on the problems you are facing, I am willing to bet it is a diamond goby.

That's the diamond goby. It is a sand sifter. They can make a mess quickly. They also grow to 6+", so will also eventually outgrow a 45g.

Don't make that mistake. Someone said they had a an orange spot. Me assuming it was the watchman was excited and went to get it. He had it ready and when I got home it was the sand sifter. AHHHGG!. Not what I wanted. He stayed with me a while though.

The guy sold it to me as orange spot and said it wouldn't make a mess. I'm kinda ticked as I've had to rescape frequently. Sand is definitely clean but what a mess.

Yeah, I was confused by a orange spotted goby giving trouble. I had one couldn't figure out what he could be doing.
