orchid dottyback missing!

let me start out with describing my tank. i have a 25g tank with a lid and it’s been running without fish for about 6 months now. i just got an orchid dottyback for it 5 days ago. i haven’t seen him for two days. i feed once daily and always look around the tank and inspect everything. do y’all think he’s just hiding? do y’all think he died? i’m kinda worried.

One of mine disappeared just after I got it, and I couldn't find it for ten days. And this was in a 13.5g Evo! It reappeared after that, swimming around and looking none the worse for wear. Chances are it's either hiding in a rock or, I'm sorry to say, jumped the tank.

Prolly hiding. I got a coris wrasse and he disappeared for 3 days in the sand, then came out with Popeye and died. Sigh*

My buddy had one and it just died one day. Like straight up gave up on life. Crabs ate half of it before he noticed.

Pfft. Orchid dottybacks are lovely fish. Or at least the captive-bred ones are.

My orchid and previous orchids (in other tanks) have been model citizens. My current ones also hid for a while iirc. If you want to know for sure, put a wifi camera on it.

To each their own, but I've never found my four to be aggressive (two pairs in two different tanks). My purple firefish bullied them, though.

The pair in my Evo live with four sexy shrimp and a mandarin goby. Their only sparring partners seem to be the bristleworms.
