Having a blue tang is all the more reason to slow the reactor with carbon .
Watch for his fact to change colour .

His color will change? They are a beautiful blue now, and looks very vibrant and healthy.

I told my bf, that we dont want it to rumble. So we will be adjusting it today.

So with these readings:

Hanna: Phos PO4: 106/ .325
Hanna: Alk: 7.6
API: Calcium: 400
API: Carb /kh: 7/ 125.3
API: Nitrate: 40

I fed about half a frozen misis block today. Will do the same for the second feeding. I will throw some pellets as it seems that my flame hawkfish prefers that.

Other than that, I am going to dose for alk.

Hopefully my nitrates and phosphates go down.

Nitrates you can manage with feeding and water changes. I like to use phosguard for phosphate. Small bag in the sump and it just walks the number down slowly over a week or so. No sudden changes. You want .05 to .1 phosphate level.

I am pretty sure I have some phosguard. I will take a look and dose when I get home.

It works well just put the right amount in a mesh bag in high flow area. Check level after 4 days. Mine brings it down to .04 and stops there.

I wouldn’t adjust alk .
and maintain It at nsw levels ( 7.5 dkh ) is where I keep mine .

Don’t confuse it with water .
it really doesn’t taste well

Google it .

One thing that pops out to me is how you added all the coral and fish but didn't have to cycle??
Am I missing something in this thread? It seems like you got the tank setup, then not soon after you had fish and coral in there.

lol... yes. Let me start with...my bf has had a saltwater tank before, and hes also a maniac (in the best ways).

We went out and bought 90 gallons of salt/ ocean water. Let it sit for about a week or so...? Maybe more. Threw pellets in there. Bought shrimp, and some hermits. I think thats pretty accurate. Then bought a damsel, as our first sacraficial fish. (Hes doing great btw)... then the rest is history. lol

The tank is very new, so now just working tthe kinks, and actually learning. :oops:

Love dragon wrasse! Sounds like the tank is coming along nicely , I would start adding selcon to the fish food while it defrosts it helps out a ton! Nitrate / phosphate will come down once the chaeto starts growing.
