Hi
Hope you all are having good luck with your tanks.
Well I've be on and off with this Hobbie for about 15 yrs or so.
And I decided to return and retry my hand in this again.
and in doing so came across The Reef2Reef forums.
PS I live in South Florida Broward county.
I read some posts and decided that this site is the most user friendly
and joined this group.
Ok here is my setup ( As IN Being Built as we speak)
On Hand...
75 Gal tank and stand Marineland Black (Good Christmas sale).
HOB Bubble Magus 1800 g/h overflow.
Chiller 1/4 Hp. 3yrs old never used I bought it new. ( better work lol).
I Properly have 50-60 lbs or so of "Dead" rock being sterilized.
Yes I said Sterilized, as follows:
30 gal trash can tupperware with led
that has. 2.5 gals. of pool chlorine and 28 gallons of tap water
small powerhead for water movement. 24/7 3wks in.
Didn't want to do an acid bath and, figured it like this.
Bleach is a weak form of chlorine, chlorine is a weak of acid so use chlorine Stupid.
Current Loop System:
https://current-usa.com/loop-marine-bundle/
FYI the system/parts was bought at different times but its all brand new.
Ok the lights might have a yr on them at the most, powerheads 2 yrs maybe.
48-60 inch LED lights x2 (say's it's got ok par we'll see) Have a 3rd 1 if I need it for more PAR.
3 big DC Current Power heads upto 1200 g/h each. or is it 600g/h per head and I got 2 with a 3rd 1 if needed I forget.
Return pump Current DC upto 2100 g/h (flow a little overkill again)
So water movement is definitely not a problem.
SUMP:
20 gal long tank (good sale petsmart 1 dollar a gal).
Bubble Magus Curve 5 Protein skimmer. rated up to a 150 gal tank size I think.
Triton Refugium Kit I got off Ebay for around $100.00 that I'm modding a little at the moment.
Needs more walls for a bubble trap and a refugium,
and Yes silicone for fish tanks will hold acrylic baffles in place if done correctly. I can pick up mine by the sock room in the sump.[/QUOTE]

Is a reforgum something different than a refugium or are you spelling it differently?
Not trying to bust you on spelling etc (it's not my strong suit and I know there's people on here that arnt native English) just honestly trying to understand this build.
If that's supposed to be the same as a refugium, don't forget to add something so water can cycle back to the main chamber and not stagnate in there.

Lol I get it I'm auctually dyslexic ;)
Just thought maybe it was really something different and was curious.
But really don't forget a spot for a pump or something in there or water will just sit in there, you want to ensure water is forced through.

Dyslexia, me too, lol, there's a lot of this going around I think, it make us more determined to succeed, then the rest of the populous. ahahahahahaaaahhhaaaa
I will be running a current 2100 g/h, pump. The sump equipment is shown in the pictures also there's a pump that sits in the skimmer chamber for the chiller that not for the skimmer the skimmer has a built in one

I see the equipment photo but it seems like you need something to return water to the chamber with the return pump in it. Here, I attached a pic.. theway I'm reading it is the water follows the purple arrows (correct?). If you don't have something where I put the red arrow either return to the chamber to the right or to the dt water will stagnate in this area. Or you could put the return pump here and put the fuge in the middle so it would ensure water passes through it.

Ok starting from right to left like the jewish read hebrew:)
1st. chamber is a dual sock chamber. 4 inch socks with silencers
2ed. chamber is for the protein skimmer and chiller pump. This chamber has a gate wall to adjust water height from 7 up to about 10.5 inches for the protein skimmer water level. In the 2ed chamber that leads to the 3rd chamber with a bubble wall / filter area leading to the......
3rd chamber is for the return pump which will have a line running from the return pump to the
refugium:);):cool::p:D Chamber
The wall that separates the refugium from the pump chamber is from the floor of the tank with a 1/2 inch spill over at the top.
The wall for the 4th chamber is solid with holes drilled at 8 to 10 inches from the bottom thus allowing the water to flow back through the top into the return chamber
Now that I have this built I can proceed with the plumbing

Ah, ok your pumping water into the fuge with the return pump :)
That makes sense, I was thinking it was just passively flowing in from the return chamber

I did try something similar to that at one point, if you put algae in there just keep an eye on the holes for clogging. They look fine but I found out the hard way that more and larger holes are sometimes better ;)

This Link is more of a Refugium tear down and rebuild for the correct plumbing and sump lay out.

Ok First attempt fail wrong baffle placement
Removed the baffles broke one P.M.O.
Ordered a new one.
So I figured I would repair my ground in my electrical outlet.
Now All is Good there.
Then I went on to setting up my power distribution system, for the tanks sump and power heads Lights chiller
(i live in S. Fl.) and what ever else I will use or need in the sump in the setup. Burklin surge protector 12 or 14 outlets with side pivoting outlets.
No more 3 or 4 power strips
Trying to keep this build as clean as possible
I just might kill the sump build and put a Pro clear 4 in 1. Or the red flex 200 but would like the 300 of either one, for the water volume it could hold due to an outage as a last gap stop measure
And the $50 dollor difference Is well spent. 300 Around $411 Amazon's
My supplier wants 450 plus tax
So their around 4 to 5 hundred..
But it is insurances if power goes out
An all the flood stop gaps fail. The sump will Hold the water.

This is how I fixed my electrical grounding problem. (See Pictures)
I found a wall switch that had All the grounds in it. (shoddy workmanship. Not me lol)
I ran 14 gauge solid copper green ground (I know should have been 12 but...) wire from the wall switch to the outlet about 15 feet away.
I switched the plug wiring that was reversed, to the correct wiring for the plug.
Short slot Positive. Long slot Neutral 1/2 moon ground While adding a G.F.C.I. Then I took a surge protector and checked to make sure it was wired up and working correctly Ground and protected lit up (cool Happy camper)
Then I concealed the ground wiring into a case molding, that anchors to the wall with double sided tape to hide the wiring. Than took some brackets to hold the casing to the wall extra security so it can't be bumped off. Then I painted the casing to match the wall color paint as per the wife. Then I put my system controls in a hutch that will be next to my reef tank to conceal the equipment
Then I got in touch with Current USA to find out how to add a 3rd LED strip light.
Just daisy chain in the light controller see picture
This should give me plenty of par for the tank
Then I went to my fish store and Ordered a Pro Clear RedFlex 4 in 1 300 with the 3 chem chambers total cost $559.29 with tax. (no one had it cheaper even ebay or amazon) Had to save my pennies for that. I I figured for a few bucks more cool deal for me and them
The 4 in 1 will be here Saturday through Monday. Straight from jacksonville Fl
I have been cooking my rocks so I can do a sterile rock build, In the process of decolorizing now.
Just need to find a good place to get some coralline algae to seed the tank with.
Last time I ended up with a S>P> full of Fire worms when I brought in a rock to seed with
