Outlet Nozzle Placement

I’m probably worrying about nothing, but would you say that my outlet nozzle is too close to my overflow? I worry, and perhaps over nothing, that i’m shooting the water essentially right to and down my overflow, reducing the effectiveness of my filtration. Thoughts? Replumbing will be a pain, though perhaps some soft tubing will ease the pain!

I don't think so. Positioned like you have it should help keep the water flowing toward the overflow to help with surface skimming.
I used to run a 6ft tank without two hob overflows, one in each back corner and had two return nozzled aimed like yours just one in each direction and the tank did very well that way.
