Hello everyone,

I made a video which I will post below as well as two picture.

I had a chance to set up my CADE and I had a chance to fill up the system. The Water flow is super interesting it doesn't seem right to me, I think there is alot of air in the system.

Again I have been away from this hubby for sometime so these questions might be simple for most but it is given me a hard time.

This picture shows the amount of air bubbles in the system and alot at the main drain line.

Does anyone know what might be causing all the air bubbles in my tank? I can take more videos if needed, but I wanted to ask here first.

I’m running a Vectra S2 DC return pump, which has a ¾" outlet, and my CADE S2 600 uses a 1" return line. Because of that mismatch, I’m currently using a SharkBite 1" × ¾" reducing coupling to step the size up. The problem is that the fit isn’t great, and I’m wondering if that poor connection is allowing air into the line and causing the bubbles. I’m not using PEX — just clear flexible tubing (1" ID / ¾" ID).

I also have filter floss in the tank right now to help clear up the black water. It seems to be helping since I can finally start to see across the room from one side of the tank.

For now, though, I’m mainly trying to figure out how to eliminate the bubbles coming from the return.

If anyone has ideas or a better connection they’ve used for this pump‑to‑return size mismatch, I’d really appreciate it.

P:S The bubbles are helping take out the black stuff in the tank which is a good thing but I still think I would want the bubbles to stop.

Thank you

Delly

Is that with salt water? Seems like your return pump has turned in to a skimmer pump. My guess is your fitting is sucking in air.

It is not saltwater yet, What fitting is sucking in air?

Are you talking about the Vectra S2?

I don't have a great fit on the connector. Do you have an idea of what connector I can use to go tubing 3/4 inch to 1inch?

P:S Once I fix the leaking issues and air issues I will add the saltwater

Thanks for replying

Was there dish soap in the tank? That's a lot of foam for fresh water. That's a lot of foam for fresh salt water too.

That’s a lot of thick foam, not natural imo regardless of entraining air. Where did you get your source water? What is the “black stuff”?

No, soap in the tank that I know of.
The black particles look like plastic shavings from the plumbing, if I had to guess. I wouldn't feel comfortable with that water. If it was my tank, I would change the water out one or more times with regular tap water until I didn't see any foam. Then replace the water with RODI and then add the salt.

Ok so just to add more info.

The black stuff is from a putty that i used to put the rock work together. I guess it never fully healed.

So I should drain the tank, and then rinse the rock and tank get the air bubbles to go away and then drain the tank and fill with RODI water.

Wouldn’t using tap water at 275TDS be an issue for the system. Like shouldn’t the system not have tap water in it.

Or am I worrying too much .

If the putty didn't fully cure then it will leach back into the water. Only fully cured epoxy is inert. Rinsing the tank out with a few rounds of tap water and then finally replacing that with RODI would be fine.

Also, with fully cured epoxy putty, I wouldn't expect to see any such particles in the water.

Ok, the putty may be adding an important detail. This could be the cause. Assuming a good amount was used? If this is the case I’d let the water cycle for a day and then change all water. This will give the putty some more curing time.

Ok before I went to work. I decided to take the rock out and let is dry out, I might need to use a tooth brush and get after the black putty spots to remove lose material.

Hey all, I have the tank completely Dry, The rock is also drying out.

I'm going to put the rock into a 12 gal bucket with Tap water in it and take a clean toothbrush and just brush the black poxy away until it stops coming off and then it will be placed into the tank.

Question for you all, I wanted to clean the inside of the tank? Can I use windex with vingear or should I just use water and a paper towel, I also have

Flipper Labs Shine

But I'm not sure if that is only for the outside I would assume it is.
