overflow box size?

any reason to make my overflow box short from top to bottom? or can it be 12" tall and 9" wide (2"depth front to back

Well, I mounted them, just as seen in this picture.

if this were your overflow box, would you be happy with its dimensions? Very little intrusion to the tank (2.5" only) I think I'm happy with how they turned out.
