Is that little tornado thing normal on your main drain?

It is normal. But you want to restrict the main drain enough that the bottom of the vortex doesn’t pull air into the drain. Meaning the “tornado’s tail” doesn’t disappear in your drain.

It pretty much stays at the top of the water, so everything’s ok then?

Agree, and it looks like there is plenty of room for them to raise the water level in the outside overflow box to do so. That'll likely quiet the unit down too:)
