Overflow decision.

I have a 220 gallon tank is will be running iwaki md55rtl return pump @1100 gph from the pump. I do understand plumbing and hight will add head pressure reducing flow into the tank. I'd like to drill for 2 corner overflows. What gph overflows should I go with and where can I get reasonably priced overflow kits?

Honestly, I'd strongly suggest looking into Ghost overflows. I made my own coast to coast overflow, but that adds some difficulty.

I also run a BeanAnimal drain setup, which would allow you to have a silent drain system with built in fail safes.

Minimal in tank footprint and would handle all of your flow. Also, remember to include whatever plumbing bits you will need from your chosen overflow to your sump when making your choice.

dont listen to the ghost overflow guy. those require tank mods and cost way too much.

Go talk to Melev at Melevsreef, hes making me a new overflow box right now 83 shipped.

Drill for a coast to coast and don't use an external box. Have your drains directly attached to the back of the tank (via the bulkhead). I doubt you can drill the bottom of your tank it is most likely tempered.

I ran my returns through the back in case I wanted to mount a canopy and seal things up a bit. It adds a bit of head loss, but I thought it would be worth the compromise. Also, one of those air lines isn't needed. I was toying around with the idea of cutting my return speed and having dual dursos with an emergency line, but decided against it.
