Just as the title states. My overflow pipe caps keep clogging with colonista snails, causing it to gurgle. Its not a huge issue, but the caps are PITA to get off and clean. If I was to remove the main drain cap, does anyone see any issue with it?
My other thought was to put a u-shaped cap on it. I can clean the gate valve pretty easily via opening it further down and allowing anything else to flush out.
Thoughts?

Those caps are a pain. Try pulling it off and drilling the upper part of the main drain PVC pipe full of holes.

Can you put foam around it? Like the 'cylinder' foam pieces they use on return pumps, etc
