So I have the Emerald 39 TS sump and am looking for alternatives to filter socks or media cups on the overflow section. Tired of constantly having to clean things. If I put nothing there it is super loud. Can I just fill that section with something else….LR rubble or some sort of filter media or something? What has anyone else used that works???

Rubble would work and would help break up any solids I used to run a sump like that years ago.

Anyone else have any suggestions or something that worked for them?

I switched to 400 micron mesh socks and could not be happier.
You get fine detrius buildup in your sump and the 400 catches all the big stuff.
I also put a piece of plexi over the 3 socks and cut some holes. This reduces noise.
Socks can be removed and are simple to clean, not like felt, it takes minutes to clean one. Mine get changed around once a month.
I run 4 systems this way.
The drilled holes allow the water to go to all 3 and not most of it into 1.
