Was planning on putting a Synergy Reef 16" overflow on a 54 gallon corner tank with a 60 Somatic sump.

Is that overflow too big for the tank?

I don't believe you can go to big on an overflow. You can definitely go to small (rated for less than your return pump) but as long as you go larger than what your return pump is rated for, and set up the overflow correctly with a gate valve, you cannot go to big. Just my opinion :)
