Overflows and return ???

I have an overflow box rated for up to 950 GPh! My return pump someone gave me is a 1056 gph pump. Is there any way to make this work?

I wouldn't recommend restricting a pump's flow. It will shorten its life. You can, however, tee off the return and direct it back to your sump and put a valve on the tee.

It would be fine to valve down the pump a little, it won't hurt it at all. However, the 1056gph is probably at zero head (straight out with no vertical height or plumbing) so you won't get that once you pump it up a few feet through the plumbing and fittings. I would try it without a valve or with one wide open and cut it down if needed but you probably won't have to if the overflow will actually handle that much comfortably.

You'll be fine. Think about the flow loss due to head pressure. By the time it pumps water up to the DT from the sump, the flow will be reduced to below the 950gph capacity for ft he overflow box. Also it's fine to put a valve on the exit line of the pump, in fact, it will actually decrease the watts used. Problems happen when you restrict the input side of the pump.

I found the pump curve for that pump. At 1 meter/3.2 ft. It only pumps a little less than 659 gph.
