Yeah there's a tonne of rules around them. Some can be bypassed because they're captive bred tho- sadly I don't think you'll get em across the border to us up here without a bunch of hassle

Best of luck with the LFS hunt! I do think that's your best option

Just find a city with a few stores and see if any or all of them are interested.
Thanks, I appreciate the guidance.

Awe, thanks, Biker. I appreciate it.

I have ordered from reefcleaners.org on numerous occasions, and they ship via USPS overnight. I have had nearly zero DOA. But again, I am located near a major metro, so it may be location-dependent.
I'm sure you are right on that. We live back in the sticks. They are routinely behind delivery times with our packages. We recently had an order from Riptide Corals where everything was done properly but UPS overnight dropped the ball and our Coral perished. (Not pertinent to this conversation but for the record, Riptide corals was not happy about it and they made it right for us, even though it wasn't their fault. That's stand-up service right there!!) Back to the point though, if you live in rural area it is more timely for deliveries.

BTW, does anyone here have an idea of how much to charge for captive bred seahorses. I know what the cost is for online purchases, but I'm not sure for an amateur like me, selling to individuals or even whole sale to businesses, what is reasonable.

Agreed! That is STAND-UP service. Awesome to hear.

While I don't have any idea on the price, I would like to compliment your concern for the well-being of your herd.

Thanks for the reply MoeStachio. I'm in the U.S. I may have to explore the other stores idea, but I had a strange experience with one chain I went to. I have my doubts of this person's knowledge, but this staffer told me that large chains can't sell seahorses because they require a license. I asked her to tell me more about this, but she didn't know more. If there is any truth to that in the U.S., that greatly limits my options. I appreciate the suggestions to expand my search, though.
Have you thought to contact any of the places that sell sea horses like Alyssa's seahorses? They might appreciate a source of tankbred stock.

Thanks, Gerdy. The thought has crossed my mind. Your and another's comment may have pushed me over the edge to reach out to her. Thanks for the PUSH. :-)

There is no way to sell without shipping or travel. There is no local markets. No body buy seahorses. The best you can hope for is do a large volume shipping to one of the wholesaler. Good luck

If you do end up shipping, FedEx or UPS overnight is the only acceptable option imho. You can always make a post on the R2R marketplace and state 'no shipping, local pick-up only' and maybe get someone that way. You can always try cragislist or local fb groups near you.

Could you do a Ship from your work? At my job UPS and FedX, made at least one stop a day. Just needed a prepaid label. On some days it could be up to three stops. Also some Pharmacies will let you have their Heavy Styrofoam Containers for free.

I agree with reaching out to online sellers. There are so many great sellers we’ve dealt with over the years you may have one start a new animal to begin selling. They can advise you on transportation as well.
Sorry about your “problem” but wow, how cool! Could we have pics?
Best of luck

You wouldn’t happen to be in Elgin, IL, would you?

Thank you for the suggestion. Maybe when I’m eligible I will also post on the marketplace. Like Facebook, craigslist does not allow the sale of life animals.

Anna I meant to reply to you, but apparently it’s not working for me correctly in the app. I must’ve hit the wrong button. Neither Facebook nor craigslist allows posts selling animals of any kind.

Hello everyone. I’m trying to reply through the app and I’m really struggling. First, thank you all so much for chiming in with great suggestions. I really appreciate it. Although I appreciate the idea of shipping from work, my job is of a nature that is very unpredictable. I do not dare bring in live Seahorses and expect to get them shipped out that day.

I’m going to try to upload a couple of photos through the app and see if it works.

Chi, yes, Elgin, Illinois. We should definitely connect.

I reached out to Alyssa and she is trying to give me some suggestions. But I don’t think it’s much different than things I’ve tried already so far.

I did have one person reach out to me who I am trying to connect with,

willing to buy multiples. So we’ll see how it goes. Thank you all so much for your thoughts. What a kind, friendly, and supportive group.

Way back in the 2000's time frame, I was trying to sell corals online, mainly high price SPS frags. I certainly know what you mean. You just have to take time off of work to package and sell. I even restrict shipping to 1 day per week only and have to shut it down because my time is valuable, I can make a lot more money working than selling corals.
I also ended up with over 1000 baby clowns after several successful broods. It took me 2 years to get rid of them all. I was driving all over Texas selling clowns.
