Posting my recent experience buying fish with Pacific east aquaculture.
I recently placed an order to purchase a WYSIWYG breeder pair of cquest line onyx clownfish.
There was also a video available to view the actual pair via YouTube. The pair pictured consisted of 2 onyx clownfish with full bars on both sides. Called and asked what was meant by a breeder pair and was told they consisted of an older pair who has laid eggs.
What I received was
This may appeal to some buyers however this was a wysiwyg listing and my aim was to purchase a pair of full bar onyx with breeding potential. If these fish have ever laid eggs than I'll disregard my several years of clownfish breeding experience and admit to knowing absolutely nothing from my efforts as they are barely the appropriate size. In fact they are almost exactly the same size. Further more, these fish do not show any type of bond whatsoever. They do not sleep together, hang out together, and actually do the typical shake as they fight to be the dominant female all while being in a singular tank to themselves.
Regardless of all this after contacting the vendor I am being told by Dr. Mac that he does not know how any of this could have happened and that the pair sent to me was the only pair that was ever available to sell. So I ask the question, if this a gross oversight on the vendors part or a fraudulent misrepresentation? Had they been accurately represented on their site I simply would not have purchased them. Either way this completely removes the point to having a wysiwyg listing. I will say that I was offered the option to send the fish back if I am unhappy as they will provide a label. At this point I will not take my time to pack up fish and attempt to ship them back to the vendor, as I have no supplies or experience to feel I can successfully get them back alive. Im not willing to have the fish die in transit and also have the vendor deny a refund because they didn't survive to boot.
I will chalk this up as my loss and recommend that anyone buying from this vendor, especially when looking at wysiwyg, look somewhere else.
