Painting in a room with an aquarium?

I just had to paint the wall and trim behind my tank. I turned everything off minus my return pump and covered completly with plastic. Opened windows and door with fans shooting out. No issues what so ever.

Sounds like you figured out what you want to use and I'm sure if applied by hand (Not sprayed) it will be fine if there is proper ventilation while applying and drying. VOC's don't tell the whole story when it comes to the safety of a paint. After all most zero VOC paints are still toxic and contain formaldehyde, ethylene glycol, crystalline silica, known carcinogens, mutagens, solvents and reproductive toxins. They can also contain Instead of VOCs check out the msds sheets to see what is in the paint some of it is nasty scary stuff.
