So what is the best route to go when painting the back of your tank? I have heard spray and regular paint. I would prefer not to spray because I am a neat freak and any bit of overspray would drive me bonkers. With that being said what is the best kind of paint to use? I am going to paint it black if that helps any.. that way it hides my overflow box I installed. Thanks a ton fam, I appreciate it.

I have always used a roller and black plasti-dip. I usually get the cans from the autoparts store since the big box stores around here only carry the aerosol. Never had any issues and can be peeled off later if need be.

Acrylic craft paint has worked well for me. Smooth foam roller to put it on. Took about 3 thin coats to get it fully blacked out. Gotta let each coat fully dry before doing the next. Masking off the parts you don't want painted is critical whether spraying or not. Just make sure the glass is VERY clean.

Window tint or vinyl wrap is what I'm going with next time.

I use some exterior flat black paint and rolled it. I feel like it turned out well.
