Pairing Ruby Red Dragonettes

How difficult would it be to pair a male and female ruby red dragonet if the male was added first? Would it help if I remove him from the tank temporarily and place him in a quarantine tank so when he first sees the female he won't be in "his" territory?

I don’t think it is necessary from my experience. That assumes you have a decent size tank and plenty of food. If you try it in a 20 I would expect aggression as it would feel his food supply is threatened and not be able to escape her nagging. :D
Sorry ladies I know none of you would nag your partner, but my ex did non stop. Very glad she is now my ex!

They're my favorite fish in the hobby but they shouldn't be relying on the same food supply.

Leaving out the food issue, do mandarins of other species generally get along since they're so aesthetically different?
