Please help! I have two pajama cardinals, one of which hates the other. Now I’ve had three newly added fish die mysteriously. Each of those fish weren’t added all at once. Let me premise it this way, all my water parameters are excellent, did water changes after death. I had a sailfin, then a tomini, and this morning my bicolored angel is “gone”. I noticed with this one pajama the territorial behavior towards his rock hideouts or what he considers his “swim” space, even after I added more rocks for hiding places. He’s just a brat. I thought pajamas were peaceful and I understand they can hate on each other but ….. Suggestions please or I’ll be putting him to “bed”. I have a 25 gallon that I could put him in with clowns and chromis but don’t know if he’ll decide he rules in that tank too. Thanks to anyone who can help me with this. Also, he doesn’t mess with my valentine puffer bcuz he knows better! 😂

Jumping in on part of this-- how long did you have your Bicolor Angel? Some people say they are difficult to keep alive more than 6 months to a year, and I have found that true in my case-- after 3 or 4 unsuccessful attempts over the years.

Remember that cardinals are schooling fish. They usually do better in groups of at least 3 or larger. I would add 1 or 2 more. This changes the social dynamic.

I'm sorry about your angel. However I highly doubt that it was caused by the cardinalfish.

I think it depends on the particular bicolor angel. I bought one from Petco over a decade ago. He’s about 5 inches long now beautiful fish no problems with him. I am certainly far from an expert.

Most of the talk seems to be whether they were captured with cyanide. But how would you ever know when it's sitting at your Petco, or your LFS? A shot in the dark, pretty much. 😔

You’re exactly right. back then I knew absolutely nothing about saltwater fish I guess the Petco that I shopped at way back then seemed to have a fairly reputable supplier.

Got him last week. Swimming like a happy as can be fish. Then hiding yesterday and today couldn’t find him after moving rocks around to look.

Maybe I should go to petco. How big was your bicolor when you got him? I was thinking maybe my bicolor was too young/small?

Those fcking pajamas are such a case, two faced jerks, when I fist seated up my tank I had a pair of clowns and a couple of months later added 2 pajamas, but one of the mysteriously died, I thought he has stressed after I got them from the store, but every time I add new peaceful fish they are always hiding and I even used the acclimation box and they all hide and then they appeared dead even some 3 fire shrimps were mysteriously executed, I tested every parameter and everything was fine, the I decided to put a camera in front of my aquarium I was decided to find out what happened and that it must've been a bully fish, and the I got it all recorded on video, it was that fcking cardinal pajamas who's been bullying every new fish I add, it is such a hypocritical fish which makes you think he's so peaceful with its slow swim style and the face which makes you think he's and angel but guess what he is the devil, I recently added a royal gramma, end its hiding I a cave because the ******* cardinal always chases him around and the the royal grama tries to reach for food, that ******* bites him and make it return to the cave, I would not believe it if I hadn't recorded it. so im trying to trap him and flush it down the toilet, Im really ticked, made me think I was doing something wrong in my tank that I almost dismantled it. So if you have one of this little jerks get rid of them they are all trouble.
