Palythoa Colony Nitemare !

Hey , I apologize if this information has been put into the wrong form but I do require some assistance. I have a large colony of Palythoa Green That are dominating my tank. The question I have is there a safe way to remove them while within the tank or kill them because they are dominating a lot of prime real estate as you can see in the picture. I read that if you can put Frag adhesive on the mouth that may kill them and I really hate having to eliminate a life in any creature but I don’t know what else I can do at the moment . Any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you

your best bet it to remove the rock there on and throw it in the trash. Whatever you do be aware of paly toxin. Those big green ones are the worse.

Unless they’re on a rock you can remove fully or remove to chisel the part they are on, you’re gonna have to kill them. I’ve had mixed experience with kalk paste and aiptasia x and using a syringe to inject directly through the mouth into the stalk. The success rate is higher injecting it than just spreading on the mouth. For me at least

I would sell or trade the entire rock. Lot of hobbyists out there with newish systems that would appreciate all that life

I Normally trim back while in tank with a razor and glives in of course. If you slide the blade under the foot you can normally get them off pretty clean and then glue to a plug and give away or sell.

Should I run extra carbon during the removal process in which trying to release the foot, would they aggressively release toxins with this method of removal ?

If the rock is easy to take out, I would do the paly removal process in a separate bucket, but it is important to keep the rock submerged while messing with the palys to avoid accidentally inhaling airborne palytoxin

I would run carbon if doing it in tank.

Inject kalkwasser powder mixed into a thin paste into the center core of each one. Option B is a heniocus butterfly but they will likely go after the good ones also.
Option c is to remove rock and wearing gloves and a protective face shield, cut them off with a razor blade over the toilet.
Option D - sell me the rock !

I’ll take it off your hands, assuming you could get the rock out. If you can’t, I’ll still take a few if you want to put them in a bag and ship it. I’ll pay you for it!
