Hello - I've started to clean up a used tank I bought. I really don't know much about any of this, I've been running a 32 gallon Nano Cube for exactly 5 years and 4 days and now I'm moving into a 180 gallon.

Question - I got to the sump and there is this rotten paper peeling off the bottom. I'm going to clean it all off, do I need to replace it with something?

Thanks in advance!

So some sumps have that and some don't. I kinda think it might be a skid or antiskid thing, but it's not necessary to have.

What tbrown said. Also I think some of the acrylic sheets are backed with that from factory to prevent scratching and they laser cut it and just ship it on for a protector. Fiji Cube has it on the bottom of their sumps, overflow boxes, sump cover pieces, and it’s a bear to get off. I’d clean it off and I prefer something like this underneath to curb any pump, water vibration. Just my personal preference

I was looking everywhere today to find some type of foam to lay on the bottom...came up with a lot of yoga mats and expensive gym stuff! I actually have some of this leftover from when we re-did our kitchen pantry!!! Thank you so much for the idea/reply! So many things on the checklist minus ONE!
