PC ballasts for T5?

I have an Hamilton 36" PC light fixture that works fine running 4x 96watt tubes. Will the ballasts (2 of them) run 36" ATI T5 bulbs?

They are very hard on t5 bulbs.

Will they explode? Have half the life? Can you explain please?

My understanding is that IF it fires your t5 the bulb life will be abysmal

Yea, don't do it. If you have to ask don't do it.
There are a lot of inexpensive T5 ballasts available. I'd spend the research time and look there.
