Bought a Pectinia coral and need some advice. I did my due diligence and searched the web for answers, however there's not a lot of info out there about placement
This is similar to a space invader.type of different colors. Any advice about.placement.

I have two;

A purple one with green eyes about half way up getting pretty good flow from an mp40 on reefcrest mode turned up I the max...about 14 inches straight line from it.

I have a green with golden eyes one about six inches off the sand bed directly in ye middle getting a fair amount of light since it is between the two metal halides.

My lights are 2x 250w 14k metal halides, and two 80 watt blue plus t5. When the pectina were on the sanded they did well to, but from what I understand stuff settling in them is detrimental to there health so I moved them off the sand. I know they will start to recede if your alk drops below 8, but recover pretty quick. I had my alk drop a couple months ago and they were my main indicator something was wrong

I just snapped some pics for you, only my blue + bulbs are on at the moment

For some reason my golden eyes don't snow the color in any photos but they are golden orange and there is about 15 eyes

Here's an old nighttime flash shot so you can kind of see the eye color

The mp40 is over to the right of this pectina, so you can see there is a slight bump and coral protecting it from getting direct flow but it gets decent flow.

Thanks bct15! This definitely helps. Your pectinia corals are gorgeous. How fast does it grow for you?

They grow a little faster than chalice corals, relatively slow for sps though.

Hi, although it is an old thread but I mention my question here, hoping somebody has interest to discuss about pectinia coral yet. Also, as you can see in Pic, something is growing on one branch of the coral. How knows what it is?
