Puffy just means it's reaching for light. Most corals in the wild are not inflated.
I've never seen coral in the wild but in my tanks I'm taking inflated as a good sign and rolling with it. I can't think a deflated LPS is a sign of being happy but like I said I've never seen wild coral. I have seen a lot in tanks and they look pathetic deflated.
These were in my acro tank getting 300 par under two photons. I don't think they were reaching for light but maybe I'm wrong.

EDIT: These coral have been in several of my tanks but looked the happiest (most inflated) in the tank with high light and high flow but they did not get direct flow.
EDIT 2 Only because my curiosity is getting to me. Hopefully some LPS guru can chime in?

This coral is reaching for light?

But the same coral is now happy?

Looks plenty happy though! Nice piece.

Thanks! I was thinking about a KFC dip too. It'd be a good goal to do a water change. It's looking rough this morning, along with the leather I got. Light flow too?
Definitely low flow.

I'm not saying that a deflated coral is necessarily happy, but an inflated coral is not necessarily happy either.

Compare with wild Pectinia:

Very interesting. If they all look like that on reefs then there is a big difference. But there's a big difference between our tanks and the ocean I suppose. Thanks for sharing the info.

like this one?

pricy, but I have never been disappointed with TG.

I thought pricey but once I got my first TG shipment. I realized it’s not pricey when considering the size and quality. The frags are literally the healthiest corals I’ve ever seen shipped and already grown on the plug for awhile.

The hammers you won’t see skeleton its like flesh band down to the plug.

Here are 2 of mine ... both pretty mature colonies grown from small frags (in 2 different tanks)

Does the logo and pectina fight? I don’t know if it’s coincidence but the pectina growth has like a spot that’s growing like around the lobos personal space bubble

Oh for sure, tg is legit. $175 is still a lot how ever it's figured. That's not to say I wouldn't save for it.

Possibly but the space invader was moved there a couple of months ago and I haven’t noticed any real fighting
