I picked up this pentair smart uv over a year ago for my new tank because the lfs had a deal to good to pass. Now that I am working to set up this tank I am feeling like this this is a beast and wondering if I should sell it. If I use it I would need to put it on the floor behind where my stand going.

The new tank is 300 gallons with 75 gallon sump

I am running the 50 watt version on my Elos 160XL. Although it is massive, I absolutely love it. Fortunately, I have it mounted in the garage wall, which is right behind my display tank. There was no way to mount it in the stand. You will not be disappointed.

I don’t think 80W is oversized for a large tank. I run the TMC110 on my 450.

That great to hear. It not clear to me though what side is input and output? Do you know.

Thanks

Don’t think it matters. Best is to orient vertically with water coming in the bottom and exiting the top. Purges air better that way.

This is how my UV is mounted on the wall. The water comes in the bottom and returns on the top. In my case, it goes through a chiller before returning to the tank.

I run a 120 watt pentair on my reefer 750. I have it Plummed in-line so running about 700 gph through the unit. Depending on what your using it for it may even be undersized. If your using it to manage parasites your looking at running 500 gph.

Thanks for the info. What side does the water enter or does it not matter?

Thanks for the info. Mine can only go horizontal because it 45" long and 6" in diameter.

Do you notice an increase in water temp?
