Hi,

I did have a pair of percula clowns, until I found my female on the floor one morning and now my male looks pretty lonely.

This happened 2 weeks ago, I’m looking to get another clown to pair him back up, do I need to buy another female, or could he started the transition of sex process ?

Lastly do I need to get another percula, or can I get any type of?

Many thanks

Happy reefing

You can either get a very large one thats most likely female or will be with the male or get one about half the size of your male and then he would most likely turn female after some squabbling. And yes you can mix those with any perc or occ clown. Just not tomatos, skunks, clarkii, or maroons :)

I would look for a notably smaller clown than your current established clown. Use a breeder box if able. Move a little of the scape around just prior to introduction, and turn off the lights.
