Petco sucks

So yesterday I went to Petco, I know the bane of the reef community. The reason I went to Petco because is because it is the closest store that sales SW fish and I just wanted to pick a few hermit crabs, a coral banded shrimp and a clown. And when I got home I noticed none of the hermit crabs where moving but I just thought they where hiding. I drip alcamated them and put them in. Woke up to find all of the hermits still in the same spot. They sold me 6 dollars worth of empty shells lol. Also this is my fault my wave maker was on to high of a setting and my coral banded shrimp got caught in the current and was pinned on a rock for like 20 mins, he was alive when I got off but he didn't make it.

I would not recommend anyone buy livestock from Petco unless they are experienced reefers.

Yep learned that the hard way I am, going to set up a quarantine tank so I can quarantine any livestock I get.

Infinite aquarium in Santa Clara also qt’s all their livestock before selling. It’s nice when they have what I’m looking for.

This is the reason i do not have more in our tanks.I just do not always have the time to keep up with a QT Tank as much as i would like right now.

Nothing goes Directly into or anywhere near our Tanks that has has not went thru a long and diligent QT ..

So sorry for your issues. Unfortunate its become normal and acceptable to Retailers to sell us unhealthy live stock. This really needs to change ..

My petco is...eh. I got my two clowns and bicolor blenny from there. I don’t plan on returning. They all turned out fine, but whenever you go there, atleast 50% of the sw tanks have atleast one fish with Ich or near death. Corals there looked bad. Although the employees weren’t too bad.

I think they should fix these issues or get rid of saltwater all together, because it is just going to drive any new people away.

Sooo let me see if I’ve got this right.
You checked out the fish didn’t see any ick and next day it had ick. You didn’t notice you bought empty shells and your shrimp took his own life. Shame on you Petco!

I made sure the fish didn't have any visible ich when I got it but it was probably exposed to it. I pointed out the living hermit crabs to the employee but he just got shells but at the time I just thought they may be hiding in them. Also I wasn't blaming petco for the shrimp dying I said that was totally my fault.
