Ok so i know how most of you guys feel about petco and i feel the same way, but im here to talk about the online store. Because i read somewhere forget where. That if you order fish from the online store there alot healthier, because they obviously order all there fish, but i dont know where they order there fish from, and reason im asking is because they somtimes have huge deals on there fish. So i was just asking to see if you guys had ever ordered fish from there and if they where healthy .

While most of my fish are from Dr. Reef’s quarantined fish, my hippo tang and lemon peel angel are from Petco. They arrived healthy and have done very well.

Where they get their fish from may vary region to region. They use a lot of Quality Marine here. My Ex was an assistant manager years ago.

I think the good thing about ordering online from Petco is that the fish will actually be shipped from the supplier directly to you. You will want to have a QT tank set up that you can adjust the SG on to match what the fish are shipped in. Its doubtful the fish will be shipped in full reef level saltwater. Test the water in the bag and match the holding tank to it then over the course of a few days bring it up to your reef tank level (depending on how low it is). Dont be surprised if its lower than 1.020 just be ready for it.

In the past, Petco was also very good at standing behind there word and if fish arrive dead/sick they were quick to refund

Thank you for the response. They just have huge deals on fish. Some fridays its 50% off, and for someone not trying to go broke on saltwaterfish that helps alot.

I got most of my chromis school from Petco online. The first order came in doa. They put all 12 in one bag. They replaced them with another 12 shipped in separate bags. All survived. Been over 6 months and all are still looking good. It was easy to get them replaced. Very good service.

Some of the deals are unbelievable. I just remembered that I also bought a coral beauty from them. No complaints. I suspect a lot of the people who hate on Petco are responding to store conditions, which I’d agree in my area aren’t great. But online has worked for me. YMMV.
