Out of nowhere my tank has decided to be 80 degrees.
I have central air and my house stays at 75.
I have 2 other tanks in the same room that are at 78 like they always should be.
I’ve had my heater unplugged for 4 days and temperature has not gone down.
I took my return pump and gyre and protein skimmer out and deep cleaned just in case they were ramping up power to fight through jams causing heat.
It’s been 24 hours since I did that and the tank is still 80.
The helio controller says 80. My temp sensor on my hydros says 80. The temp on a regular thermometer says 80.
Where is this heat coming from?!?!?!

Hmm?🤔
Interesting thought. That tank is against a wall on one side of my bed but on the other side against the same wall is another tank and it’s holding at 78. But maybe the wall is cooler in the one corner than the other. I will keep this in mind. I’ll get a laser temp reader and see if there’s a difference. Thanks!

I've had a jebado return pump that started putting out a ton of heat from the housing. Cleaned the pump and the housing even underwater was getting hot to the touch. I'd try touching some of your equipment while it's running just on the off chance that's your issue.

That was my initial thought too but they all feel normal. Thanks for the suggestion.

Unless the pump was drawing more power than usual for some reason (not likely) then nothing changed. The pump already imparts virtually all of its energy into the water as heat, one way or another.

The cooler tanks are likely shedding heat via evaporation faster than the warmer tank. Relative humidity and airflow can make a vast difference between tanks in the same relative "temperature" room or rooms.
