Hello,
I have a 55 gallon salt water reef tank. It has been running for over a year but since the biggining iv always had a problem with my phosphate levels and have had alot of unwanted algae growth. Because of limited space i do not have a sump but instead am running a canister filter and a hob skimmer. Please help me with any suggestions to help fix or limit this problem.

Run a reactor with a phosphate control gradual (GFO) I am running Rawa with good results with a small reactor in my 72. I am also running a small amount of carbon dosing with No3Po4X. I feed my tank heavy and that is one reason my Po4 runs high

I'm using Chemi pure elite that is on a HOB filter to control my Phosphate levels.
I'd sugggest to find the source first. It could be one of these reasons- type of water you are using and like mentioned above heavy feedings and water change schedule.
