Hi Folks,

I have gone through the stickies and that helped with my FTS and 'daylight' shots dramatically. However, I am still stuck taking close up shots under the blue lights. They just get washed out.

I have adjusted the lighting using various LED combinations, even added a T5 in the mix, all with the same results. My camera is an older Sony A350.

The best I can get is this:

While they actually look like this:

My supplier says I need to change the lights, but I built a light to 'match' the light he recommends and it did not help. Granted, I still ordered the light, just in case :)

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

You need to adjust your white balance. you can also do post processing on the computer after taking the pic.

Thanks for the reply. I got the white balance adjusted as good as I can.

What post-processing should I adjust to make the colours pop?

I use photoshop and gimp...

Depending on the settings in the camera you can often times adjust the blue out with a custom white balance setting. Personally I prefer to get it the way I want it in the camera than to have to post-process everything.

Another option is turning off your blue lights temporarily and using an actual white light for the picture - I've done this a lot in the past with my iPhone camera as the white balance controls are pretty much non-existent.

Thanks everyone!

Since I could not get the camera to simply take the photo the way I want, I did some post-processing, I welcome any feedback!

This the same coral as in the OP, I increased the actinics, my wife says it is the same colours as in the tank:

Less actinics:

Different coral, more actinics:

Thanks!
