I'm am starting to become fascinated with aquarium photography. Struggling with photos under all blue lighting. Using a dslr shooting raw format. Any tips and tricks anyone would like to share?

Are you using an orange filter for your camera? That will remove some of the blue light tenting in the photos!

I'm not. I tried it but it looks odd shooting raw. I haven't tried it in jpeg format though. I'll see how that goes tonight.

This is a picture I shot on an iPhone 16. I did some editing within the photo app (and luminar as I don’t have photoshop) Usually for photos you can try and decrease the amount of blues on your lights that way it’ll reduce some of the blueish hue in the photos. I would use my dslr camera to get photos but I lack the proper lenses to get decent photos (I just have stock lenses. No prime or macros)

Very nice! I can get descent shots with more white lighting, skills need a lot of improving yet. Trying to get coral shots under all blue. I'm going to keep working on it

I use a Hoya 85c filter, and manually adjust the white balance (set it to a white sheet of paper under the blue lights) on my camera when shooting dslr.

A little blurry
Depending on the lens, you can adjust focus, or physically move the camera away or toward the subject while shooting. Lenses have a minimum distance away they have to be in order to have sharp photos. Also make sure the lens is clean.

I know you can get orange film that you can attach to the glass from Amazon. It's not recommended to stay there long term for general viewing but it might be useful to put a small square up to get the shot you want then take it down?

I couldn't get my camera to manually adjust white balance using a white sheet of paper last night. How are you doing it?

I was able to get manual white balance this morning. Colors are pretty spit on to what I am seeing in the tank!
