Just wanted to show a great pic of my tank, I thank ReefBreeders for making this possible. Almost all of these corals were grown from single polyp or 1-2” frags!

I started almost a decade ago with a photon 48v1, started another tank with a photon 32v1, then upgraded my main tank to a 48v2 and have never had it look better!

Wow @VintageReefer , just Wow! Why is the goni on a box like thing?

It’s a grow out system I created and had produced. My goni came on a plug and removing it would damage the parts that started to encrust. This goni is also extremely rare, and expensive. It’s survival is important!

The green square is a magnetic shelf i had customized to hold 2x2 frag tiles. The black square is a 3d printed 2x2 grow out tile with a hole drilled in the middle to accept frag plugs. This way I can put the plug on the custom tile and let it encrust over the plug onto a nice flat square 2x2 base. When the tile is full, it’s removable from the magnetic shelf it’s on and can be placed in the sandbed and be nice and stable.

The shelf also helped me find out where in the tank my new goni was most happy. It wants medium light and low flow, and this allowed me to get it in a proper location until it’s larger and more durable

This system would work great for anyone wanting to grow out corals from frag plugs, without removing them from the plug. Zoas, acan, Acros, basically anyhow that encrusts could benefit from this. It is strong enough to hold standard ceramics 2” tiles also

The guy that took my concept to reality is now selling the kit for 15$. Magnetic shelf and 2 tiles to get you started. If anyones interested I can paste a link. I don’t profit at all from this, I bought mine out of pocket. I hope others can benefit from my idea now that it’s available for sale

Very interesting, I’m sure very useful for all encrusting corals.
