I have a photon v2 and was thinking of adding a high octane uv LumenBar to the front of the photon. Has anyone added one and if so what is your thoughts on it. I’m hoping to get a little more light on some of my corals in the front because it seems like my sps that face towards the front of the tank half of the coral is always dying or dead. So a few of my corals are half and half’s. Half dead and half alive kinda weird because it only effects the sps corals.

I have similar issues with kessil as well, being pendant they suffer the same problems. I think metal halides or t5s are best if you want ambient lights with less shading. The led strips are good option as well if positioned appropriately . Make sure your over all light throughout is around 5 watts per gallon

I never thought about watt per gallon that’s good to know. However, it’s only a 40b so I’m sure I’m good there just wanted to get rid of some of the shading issues with the corals. I’ve actually really considered buying a used T5 light and giving it a try. My only concern is the aesthetic look of T5’s and maybe electrical cost. I really like the slim look of leds plus I bracket to the tank and don’t want to hang the lights. Are there any slim t5 fixtures I could bracket to the tank?
