I got some 1 mL cultures of phytoplankton that I hope to grow out and produce for myself in the run.

I have some idea of how I will use flasks to culture and upsize it until I have a large amount. But curious if anyone has done something similiar of buying a small lab culture (mL) and working your way up to liter bottles.

Got the cultures from Algae Research Supply and some flasks. I've grown phyto like nanno and tetra before but not at larger amounts. Hope someone can give me a relatable expierence.

clean technique will be your biggest challenge.
personally I found bleach-thiosulfate to work better for me at sterilizing new cultures than boil-sterilizing.

we start with sterilized glass vessels, like Erlenmeyer flask, and once we got about half a gallon of microalgae in good concertation we move it to polyethylene sleeves.
